ESE AM
This class had trouble focusing and used every opportunity to distract themselves from being productive. I used second period to go around and get them to commit to:
- A charcacter type
- An era/or ancient civilization to put their character in
- A flaw or weakness for their character
I didn't pin them down on the weakness or flaw but made suggestions based on their other choices. During third period, they continued to work, but not particularly efficiently and there wer many side conversations and deliberate distractions from their tasks.
ESE PM
For the first hour I had them continue to research and brainstorm about their characters. The additional students in class who
are not on the trip are being disruptive. I had assigned the ESE that the other students are working on to this group, but they claimed not to know what an ESE is and were not receptive to learning about it either. I had them read or do work from other classes, but it wasn't enough to fill the time. For the second hour, after reminding them that however unproductive they were, the assignment was still due on Friday, I put on The Fellowship of The Ring, which was largely ignored by almost all of them.
